Cloistered Imperial Prince Soncho (尊朝法親王)

Cloistered Prince Soncho (September 8, 1552 - March 30, 1597) was the sixth Prince of Fushiminomiya Imperial Prince Kunisuke. He was the head priest of the Buddhist Tendai sect.

Background

He succeeded to Shoren-in Temple. (1555)

In 1563 he entered the Buddhist priesthood and was named Soncho.

He died in 1597.

Cloistered Imperial Prince Soncho was talented in calligraphy, he established another style of calligraphy, the Soncho style out of Shoren-in Style.
